Death by Chocolate
Here is a Dutch oven dessert recipe that is guaranteed to satisfy the chocolate lover in you. Great for camp cooking, this taste treat is best served warm and enjoyed around the camp fire. Serve with a drizzle of caramel sauce and top with whipped cream.
Ingredients:
1 box chocolate cake mix
¼ cup of vegetable oil
3 eggs
1½ cups water
1 small (3.9oz) box chocolate fudge instant pudding mix
2 teaspoons instant coffee granules
Dash of cayenne pepper
1 cup semi sweet chocolate morsels (divide in half for recipe)
1 cup crushed pecans
1 large jar (11.75oz) Smucker’s Hot Fudge Sauce
6 Heath Bars – crushed
Directions:
Mix together by hand the chocolate cake mix, vegetable oil. eggs and water. Stir in the instant pudding mix, instant coffee, cayenne pepper, ½ cup of the semi sweet chocolate morsels and the crushed pecans (can be omitted in case of nut allergies).
Pour into foil lined 12 inch Dutch Oven. Sprinkle ½ cup of semi sweet chocolate morsels over the top of the mixture. Bake at 350° for 30-45 minutes. Use 24 charcoal briquettes for the outdoor cooking of this recipe with charcoal as your fuel. Place 15 lit briquettes on top and 9 underneath your Dutch oven.
Let cake cool for 5 minutes. Poke holes into the top of the cake then spread 1 jar Smucker’s Hot Fudge Sauce. Top with 6 crushed Heath Bars.
