Maple-Orange Glazed Ham
This recipe is really all about the glaze. Give it a try, it is a good way to spice up your holiday ham!
Ingredients:
8 lb cooked spiral cut ham (non glazed).
Glaze:
1 cup Maple syrup
¾ cup Orange Marmalade
1 ½ Tbs. Dijon mustard
2 Tbs. butter
¼ tsp ground pepper
1/8 tsp ground red pepper (optional)
¼ tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp ground clove
½ tsp ground ginger
2 Tbs. Grand Marnier (optional)
Directions:
You will need at least a 14” Deep Dutch oven if cooking outdoors. If cooking indoors, you may use foil to cover the Dutch oven if the lid doesn’t fit. Follow the warming instructions that accompany the spiral cut ham. Do not over cook because this will dry out ham. Generally the cooking temperature is 275° with a cooking time of 10 minutes per pound.
Place glaze ingredients in a sauce pan and mix well. Bring to a boil then lower the heat and reduce the mixture by one half. Spread 1/3 of mixture on ham at last 10 minutes of cooking. When the ham is done, spread another 1/3 of the mixture onto the ham and let it sit covered for 10 minutes. Add ½ cup of orange juice to the remaining 1/3 of the glaze mix, warm then use as an accompaniment to the ham.
