Pork Chops-n-Apples
Here is a fall favorite for when the apple crop is coming in. Pork chops and apples is a Dutch oven recipe that I am sure you will enjoy whether you make it at home or cook it outdoors while camping.
Ingredients:
4 tbs. Butter
12 pork chops
1½ cups Chicken Broth
4 onions, sliced
4 apples, pealed, cored & sliced
Salt
Pepper
Parsley
Directions:
Melt butter in a 14" or 16" Dutch oven. Add pork chops, season with a pinch of salt and ground pepper then brown your pork chops on both sides. Add in Chicken broth cover and cook at 350° for 1 hour. If cooking in a camp Dutch oven outdoors use 24 charcoal briquettes. Place 15 lit briquettes on top and 9 underneath your Dutch oven. Replace your coals about every 30-40 minutes. You may need more coals in windy or cold weather.
After cooking for 1 hour add the onions and apples and then cook covered for 20 minutes. Remove the cover and cook for another 10 minutes until apples are tender and golden. Season with salt and pepper to taste and garnish with parsley.
